Reed Faster Speculates: Forty Years in a Mortal Fleshsack
So last week, this mortal sack of flesh turned forty. Forty whole years on the planet earth and I keep thinking about what I would tell my younger, much squishier self. Here is the list I have pondered since the first of the month.
- People will always judge you. Let them. The only person whose judgement of yourself matters is yourself.
- Addendum to above: Be kinder to yourself. Give yourself the same kindness and grace that you give others, ESPECIALLY when you feel like you don’t deserve it.
- Don’t try to march to the same drum beat as everyone else. It only leads to you not wanting to exist. March to the screaming of the insane you have locked into the internal void.
- If someone tells you that you can’t do something, don’t let it become a won’t.
- No is a complete sentence.
- It’s alright to be dramatic. It’s not okay to put a damper on your light because the rest of the world tells you that you must. I mean, how else are you going to attract mates and/or prey?
- You don’t always have to finish the book.
- Never lose your optimism, even if other people see it as a negative.
It doesn’t seem like too much, but I feel anything more extensive would be lost in the etheric currents of time or be misunderstood due to the inelegance of attempting to speak through fleshy mouthparts, instead of direct mind-to-mind contact.
Borrowed from MatatabiArt on DeviantArt (Titled: Hellscape: Eldritch Horror). But honestly, how did they get a picture of me in the library with my mask off? |
